Position Title: Full Time Chef
Salary: $54,000 to $60,000 + superannuation
The Chef is responsible for:
• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
• Rotate stock items as per established procedures
• Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
• Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitised at the end of the shift.
• Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
• Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items.
• Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
• Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Attends in-service and safety meetings.
• Maintains good working relationships with co-workers, customers, administrators and managers.
• Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Must be able to swiftly change and deliver a menu as per Covid restrictions, to make sure all protocols are being followed
Required Skills
• At least two years’ experience
• Diploma of Hospitality
• Strong organisational and decision making skills
• Ability to work with staff at all levels in an organised, autonomous andsuccessful way.
• Ability to interact positively with management, co-workers, guests, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach.
• Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality.
• Ability to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers and supervisors, to treat co-workers, supervisors and guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behaviour.
• Understanding of budgeting and financial analysis.
• Senior-level business management, interpersonal, mentoring and coaching skills.
